Having loads of fun with my iPod Touch

Posted on Saturday 1 December 2007

my iPod Touch screenshotMan~ this thing is so cool!!! It’s exactly like a mini-handheld Mac. Seriously… calling it an iPod and using it solely for music and entertainment is plain wrong. :P

So yesterday, I was spending the entire night installing and configuring my new toy. Of course the first thing is to jailbreak the iPod Touch so that I can install all the really cool apps that other people have developed. (nope, i didn’t brick it once).

And that’s when the fun starts… loads of applications are available for the iPhone / iPod Touch and installing them through the new Installer.app is a breeze. Now I’ve got a Terminal, VNC client (that can even do the zoom and pinching trick), IM client, a simple file transfer and also a tiny webserver app to enable sharing of my iPod Touch files :) For games, I’ve installed gpSPhone which is basically a Game Boy Advance emulator and hahaha… that just opens up a whole new world of games for the iPod Touch.

As for the basic functions of the iPod itself, iTunes works flawlessly to import my songs, movies and also pictures from iPhoto. Plus, the Safari mobile browser is possibly the BEST thing on the iPod Touch. Not only it can browse the web like a normal browser and allows you to shink and zoom the pages with ease, it can also open PDFs and other basic documents!

Okay okay… I know I’m sounding like a small kid overjoyed with a new toy… but that’s just it - I AM! :D

I wish I’d read this before I bought a nano, I might have upgraded.

well Josie, an iPod Nano has it’s benefits as well… for starters it’s really much smaller and more portable. :)
