Ohaiyo Tokyo~

Dear friends… konichiwa.

This is my first post from Japan. :) Should have written something here long ago but then I was just too distracted to take time and type it out. Anyway, don’t worry… I’m still alive and well here. Since I got here… I’ve experienced many new things which most of them it’s a first time for me. For a big part, it’s mainly to do with the difference in culture compared to back home. As much as I’m enjoying my time here in Tokyo, I sure miss home… made me realize how much I take things for granted sometimes when I’m back home.

Having my own place
I’m quite used to living away from home since I spent like 4 years in Miri, Sarawak but this is the first time I get my own pad. :) It feels nice cause I have my own place to go back to and having no distractions. Unfortunately, it’s pretty bare now and I got no Internet access (yet) so it’s a bit boring… hahaha… Hopefully, by next Tueday I’ll get my ADSL setup - [47Mbps (down) 5Mbps (up)] woohoo~ :P and then I’ll have more entertainment at home.

For now, I got a small 14″ TV given by my boss and I just watch Japanese shows everynight. I have no idea what they’re talking about though. Hahaha… even English movies is dubbed to Japanese with no subtitiles.

Here’s some pictures of my place… It’s basically empty but on the first day I went to IKEA to buy some furnitures for my place and also my boss gave me a bed as well. Thanks boss! :D

Chili
Gosh I MISS chili so much I think I’m suffering from withdrawal symptoms!!! hahaha… Regretted not bringing any chili with me. So far I’ve yet to taste anything which is spicy (no… wasabe doesn’t count). Every restaurants, fast food outlets and eateries that I went - they just don’t serve chili. The best thing that they have is the chili powder which is not even spicy… You know what? You can’t even get chili sauce in McD! Only ketchup. SIGH~ :(

Tremors
Yesterday afternoon i was just browsing on the Net when Au Yong sent me a message on Meebo saying “earthquake” and just then… I felt like my work place is swaying… hehehe… dizzy. Anyway, it seems like it’s just tremors from an earthquake in the ocean at the south of Japan (refer to pic).

This will probably be the first of many more to come.

Tremors felt in my office

Speechless
Okay, I admit I’m a very talkative type of person. Probably not a great writer but I yak alot. ;) But since I got here… I’ve been speechless for many occasions. While I don’t have any trouble communicating with my fellow colleagues, I do face problem when I want to buy food or when I’m traveling alone. Thanks to my really really bad Japanese, I can’t understand a word that’s coming out of their mouth so most of the time just nod only… hahaha… seems to work most of the time. :P

Constipation
By the way… I’m still trying to figure out if it’s the food, the whole getting-used-to-the-environment thingy or if it’s just because the lack of chili… the problem is for as much as I’ve ate; (sorry for my language here) I’ve not sh*t as much. I even bought extra fruits (and it cost a BOMB here) just to up my intake of fiber but still no sh*t. My next resort is to take laxatives but I can’t be doing that everytime right? Any ideas?

Finally…
Well, I try to write less and post more pictures the next time, ok? Miss having my SE k750i around as the camera is so much more better than my current Motorola V3x. I got myself a new handphone here in Japan as well (a Toshiba 810T) but there’s limited memory so can’t really use it to take photos for now.

To all my friends back in Curtin Miri… all the best for the new semester and to my family back home, I’ll see you all on Skype when my Internet connection is up! :D

Until my next post… (which I hope will be soon). Cheers~!

PsyCHZZZ: Hahahaha… yeah man… Malaysian buildings are not built to sustain quake so better be careful… :D Heck, even some buildings doesn’t require a quake and they’re showing cracks. :P

  3. a Miricom user Says:

like I said before in Miricom, you need someone to do 浣腸 (kanchou) at your back down there… that should solve years of constipation… BTW, how’s their toilet? I heard that there isn’t always a toilet or sitting bowl in every room… true?

PsyCHZZZ: Hahaha… ermm.. I think it’s not that serious yet lar; don’t need to send the message that clear. :) About their toilets - hmmm… I’m in Tokyo so I get toilet everywhere and these are the pre-built ones with bathtubs, sink as well as a sitting bowl. Perhaps in the more outskirts there might have some older buildings without toilets for every room - but then again I’m just guessing cause I’ve not been there. ;)
