Download - WGA Notifier Removal Tool. [Verify it!]
Recently, there’s been a lot of my friends having problems with their PCs as they’re infected with viruses, trojans as well as spywares… One of the main reason is that they didn’t run Windows Update to get the latest fix and patches… and if they run the updates, well… some of them will get notification windows saying that their copy of Windows is not genuine (we know why this is such right?
).
Well, let me make it clear that running Windows Update is important. There’s no argument about it especially if your PC is connected to the Internet. So, how do we work around the “troublesome” notifications by Microsoft??? Good news is that there’s a patch to remove the WGA Notification Tool installed via Windows Update. This patch can be downloaded here.
So, guys and gals… please update your Windows. And “if” you get any of the annoying notification by Microsoft, then just run the patch and remember to change your Windows Update option.
Step-by-Step Guide on Windows Update.
- Right click on your “My Computer” -> “Properties”. Select the “Automatic Updates” tab and click on the option “Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them.”

- After you’ve done that, you’ll notice a little yellow shield on your taskbar (beside your clock) notifying you of new updates. Click on it and let it download all the updates avalable.
- After you’ve completed all the updates and restarted your computer, you might run into one or more of these messages (depending on your “version” of Windows). If you see any of these messages, please download the WGA patch and run it. Restart your computer after you click on “Remove” button.

- Finally, you might get the little shield icon again notifying you of latest Windows Update… please see carefully and if it says “Windows Genuine Advantage Notification” then just ignore it.
Your PC is now installed with the rest of the Critical Updates by Microsoft and the patch has just removed the notification tool that comes with it.

Anyway, if you want to secure your PC even more, please check out my previous post. Cheers~!
Hi ppl, seems like there’s a number of you who’ve downloaded the patch that I posted on this site. I’m just wondering if it worked for you or it doesn’t work anymore???
If you look on Google there are lots of other methods to circumvent the WGA notification so how is this patch compared to the other methods?
Btw, I didn’t write this patch… and it’s VIRUS FREE! I’ve used it on my computer and a couple of my friends… it works by removing the WGA Notification Tool entirely. But it’ll still prompt you to re-install it which you can just easily ignore and set the icon to always hide on the taskbar.
Cheers~!
Hey - Great Work Man,
Your site is clear, well organised and easily accessible.
Cogratulations to You and a big THANKYOU to the writer of the WGA Patch
Best Wishes, RodC
You’re most welcome… I’ve just helped another friend re-installed his WinXP and did the Windows Update… downloaded 47 Security Updates including the WGA Notification Tool… good to know that the patch still works fine… (for now) lolz….
Cheers~!

Thanks buddy .
Does this work for win98 se. (yeps some of us are stil stuck in the past
Hi.. not sure if it’ll work for Win 98 SE or not cause I’ve never personally tried it… (err… Win98SE is pretty old btw)
Plus, I believe that Microsoft is going to end all support for Win 98, Win 98SE and WinME [technet.com] come July 11, 2006. So, you might want to consider upgrading it to either Win2K or XP…
Anyway, just a quick update… for those of you who have updated your Windows on the latest major June update [microsoft.com], you’ll notice that even though the Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Tool is installed together with it, it doesn’t show the notifications anymore if your copy of Windows is not genuine… I think they’ve released a new version of the WGA tool since the discovery of certain traits in the WGA tool that reports back to Microsoft everyday [slashdot.org]. So, let’s wait and see what’s the new method that Microsoft has installed for us… lolz…
Cheers~!
Just a quick update:
Microsoft is posting ONLINE instructions on how to disable or uninstall the pilot version of Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications.

It does work for the Genuine Validation Notifications but not to the Genuine Advantage Validation Tool K
(Kb892130)
Hey bro, thanks so much for this patch, it got rid of that stupid widows G.A notice crap
Cheers : )
Yeah, this tool is to remove the Notifications only. In order to bypass the validation, you’ll have to use a different method. But, IMHO there’s not really a need to validate your copy of Windows unless you’re installing IE7, Windows Media Player 11 or other Microsoft softwares which by it’s own have a method to bypass validation.
Cheers~!
Thank you! It works perfect!
Tnx for the patch, it works!
though the 30-day limit for u to authenticate the copy of the windows XP OS is still running.
do u hav another patch or a procedure that can help us work around with it?
my problem is that i bought my laptop as a second-hand unit that is why i cannot validate the authenticity of the installed copy. Now as far i understand it when u installed at least 3 new hardware or updated via the net any of your internal hardware drivers microsoft will run a new algorithm if u r connected to the net and the automatic update is selected and will warn u that u have an invalid copy of their software.
hope u can help me on this one cause i don’t hav some money to pay bill gates right now for the new serial code to authenticate my copy.
thanks!
your website is very helpful to people like me!

Hmmm… I think if you call Microsoft back in your home country - they might be able to help you solve the problem. I assume that when you bought the 2nd-hand unit - you got a copy of the original license (usually a sticker stuck to the CPU) as well?
If you have that, just call them and I think they can help activate through the phone. Cheers~!
thanks so fast, its important for me.
the patch is best! i like it!
great! it worked on my win xp with a vista trans pack 7.0…
so quick man! million thanks!!! wga on mine was a 1.7 fyi…
This is a great site and patch. Thank You. Since using this my computer is back up to its regular speed, it seems that the WGA slowed my computer down tremendously. Thanks.

no need to download anything: just delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\WgaLog.dll and C:\WINDOWS\system32\WgaTray and C:\WINDOWS\system32\LegitCheckControl.DLL just to remove windows genuine.
