DomainTools.com >> Reverse IP

I bet some of you guys have already known this for a very long time but I just stumbled upon this feature in DomainTools.com which is very cool… It’s call Reverse-IP and the function of it is to locate all the domains that resolve to an IP address or matching hostname. To put it simply, it can be used to check the number of domains hosted on one server.

Since I’m hosted on one of the cheapest (but pretty reliable) web hosting provider, it’s only normal for them to oversell… what is oversell? Well, it means that the allocated space for your domain is virtual and the host will sell more accounts than they are capable of serving in a full capacity. It’s totally fine… unless a person or a particular domain is running some intense web hosting which really really takes up lots of resoures or has lots of visitors per day.

Anyway, i decided to use it and check to see how many domains are hosted on the same server as mine… and the result is a whopping 401 domains!

Hahahaha… that is quite a lot eh? No wonder a while back it was so slow and sluggish… but they’ve upgraded the server to a quad CPU server and now it’s pretty alright. I’m happy with my current web hosting provider cause they’re still affordable for a student like me. ;)

Well, just want to share this info with you guys… if you’re running on a shared hosting, it’s fun to check what other domains are people running on the same server… might learn a thing or two. Cheers~!
