TMNet StreamyX Hotspot’s speed

Posted on Tuesday 14 March 2006

Hmmm… TMNet StreamyX Hotspot’s speed is only 384kb/s and I’m just wondering if there’s any possibility to get them to increase the speed to either 512kb/s or 1Mb/s :) perhaps?? Anyone know of such procedures where we can make a request?

The speed of the hotspot in Curtin is getting from bad to worse… perhaps one of the main reason is that more and more students are using it.. so, 384kb/s is just not enough anymore… sigh… nowadays, either can only use it in the morning or in the evening where there’s lesser students. Afternoon is just packed and slow…

So, any possibility to get TMNet to increase the speed?? ;)

    Benet,
According to TMNET website, the hotspot’s speed originally should be 384kbps.

Actually I more concern about your house’s streamyx application. Since YB Lee is chairman of the Management Board of Curtin Sarawak Campus, what about you called his office up to voice out your concern?

My friend who live in Tudan do not have Streamyx service previously due to his area is comprised of squatter from other part of Miri(normally Streamyx subscriber not much). After he keeping up with YB Lee’s office for quite a time, finnally he success!!

Although I know Streamyx is TMNET ’s rights to setup its service, but no harm try to use political power to speed up the application process. I believe you also do not want to wait too long to enjoy Streamyx service in home, rite? I not sure what the office willdo, just try to ask them first.

I use e-Request to solve many problems happened in Miri cos Mirian always want our City keep progress towards 2020 vision. I had tried few cases, you may view it in http://www.miricommunity.net/viewtopic.php?t=205.

    Thx.

Hi… Yeah, I know that it’s only capped at 384kb/s but just wonder if there’a any way to request for a speed upgrade… hahaha…

Anyway, the TM guys did pop by my place a couple of days back… but just with some forms and also estimation that StreamyX will be available earliest by April. Guess I’ll most prob have to wait till then… Actually, YB Lee did meet with the Telekom people last year for a meeting about getting Internet access to Senadin area and I think that’s the reason why it’s actually faster now… I think TM’s original plan wouldn’t even cover the Phase 2C area until middle or end of the year!

    Thanks for your help… Cheers~!

    Hi Jesz.. thanks for visitng.

If you like to change your password; you can do it in TWO ways depending on which type of account are you on.

For prepaid card users, just go to https://prepaid.tm.net.my and click the link for tmnet hotspot. Login using your existing ID and select the link to change your password. For postpaid users, go to https://tmbill.tm.net.my.

A prepaid user is one who just uses the Hotspot Startup Pack and you reload using the reload coupons. Postpaid users are those who have the Hotspot ID signed up together with their TMNet StreamyX account.

    Cheers~!.
